Yateli - Limited Quantity Labels Manufacturer

What Are Limited Quantity Labels?

A regulatory marking for dangerous goods shipped in limited quantities, used to identify outer packaging that qualifies for limited quantity provisions under applicable transport codes.

Limited Quantity Labels, also referred to as LQ labels or Limited Quantity marks, are regulatory identification marks used on packages containing certain dangerous goods shipped within approved quantity limits. They communicate the shipment’s transport classification to carriers, warehouse teams, and handling personnel.

According to U.S. federal regulations, the legacy ORM-D (Other Regulated Materials-D) marking was phased out on January 1, 2021 and replaced by Limited Quantity (LQ) labeling. This harmonization supports alignment with international transport frameworks such as IATA DGR, IMDG Code, and ADR, and helps reduce the risk of customs delays or rejected shipments caused by obsolete markings. Source: U.S. e-CFR, Title 49 Transportation, Part 172, § 172.315.

These labels are not ordinary shipping stickers. For international shipments, the correct format must be selected based on the transport mode and the applicable regulatory requirements.

Our label constructions are manufactured to support export workflows for manufacturers and packaging buyers who need consistent, legible, and specification-aligned compliance marks.

Designed for use across major dangerous goods transport systems and packaging compliance programs.

IATA DGR / ICAO

For air transport of eligible limited quantity dangerous goods, where the Y-marked format is required for compliant shipment identification.

IMDG Code

For sea freight shipments where limited quantity identification is needed for marine packaging and logistics handling.

ADR / DOT 49 CFR

For road transport and domestic export programs requiring compliant limited quantity markings for ground shipping workflows.

What Does the Y Mark Mean?

The Y mark indicates that the package meets the requirements for limited quantity air transport under IATA rules.

Y is the aviation-specific identifier used on limited quantity labels when a shipment qualifies for air transport. It is not a decorative element; it signals that the packaging is intended for air freight under the relevant limited quantity provisions.

Blank versions without the Y mark are used for ground and sea applications only. Buyers should select the correct version according to the shipping mode, UN number, package quantity limits, and carrier requirements.

If you are unsure which version applies to your product, our team can help identify the correct label structure based on your shipping scenario and destination market.
